We convince ourselves life is better when we get married, have one child and then another one. But we get frustrated because our children are not old enough and tell ourselves all will be well when they are older. Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with that and surely will be happier when they grow up — and so it goes on.
With destination of happiness always awaited or we console ourselves that life will be better when we have a new car, when we can take a vacation and when we finally retire. But the truth is that there is no better time to be HAPPY than right NOW. The fact is life is always full of challenges. There are always obstacles, an ordeal to get through, bills to be paid, work to be finished. I have finally understood that these obstacles ARE life. This point has helped me see that there isn’t any road to happiness. Happiness itself is the road. So we must enjoy every moment, not to count others’ blessings, achievements or honours, because applause dies away, trophies gather dust, winners are soon forgotten.
Remembered are those moments and those souls who were close by. Life is short and it’s important to help others win, even if that means slowing down changing our own race. Indeed, the more we celebrate in life, the more there seems to be in life to celebrate.
